About the sun in Piran

Piran sits on the tip of a narrow peninsula, with open sea on three sides. That gives it one of the best sunset horizons in Slovenia: from the Punta lighthouse and the town walls, the sun sets over the open Adriatic for much of the year, moving from the north-west in summer to the south-west in winter. Around the summer solstice it sets towards the Friulian coast and the Grado lagoon.
